Eligibility Overview

  • Most first-year students live in residence halls
  • Limited apartment availability for first-year students
  • Apartments are primarily for upper-class students
  • Housing assignments depend on availability
  • Housing not available for married couples or students with families

Co-Educational Housing

USI offers optional co-ed housing where students of any gender can share a unit.

Graduate Students and Students Age 22 and Over

Two buildings in McDonald East are designated for graduate students and students age 22 and older.

Apartment Options

  • Three-person, two-bedroom apartments
  • One-person, one-bedroom apartments

Living Experience

  • Designed for more independent living
  • No resident assistant (RA) assigned in these buildings
  • Ideal for students seeking a quieter, self-managed environment

Tour Campus Housing

You can tour campus housing through scheduled showroom visits.

Showroom Tours

  • One showroom is located in a residence hall
  • One showroom is located in an apartment community
  • Showroom tours are typically included in Admissions visits

Tour Availability

  • Monday–Friday (when the University is open)
  • Between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.

Planning Ahead

  • Request your tour at least 72 hours in advance of your preferred date
