May 8 - Last day of spring 2026 semester; University housing closes to residents; residents must move out by 6 p.m. unless approved to stay late or have a completed summer contract
May 8 - Deadline for new incoming freshmen and transfers to complete contract and roommate groups to participate in May room selection
May 18-22 - Room selection for new incoming freshmen and transfers; select a bed space during assigned appointment time online
May 25 - Memorial Day - USI closed, No classes
June 1 - Deadline to cancel 2026-2027 housing contract without penalty
June 19 - Juneteenth - USI closed, No classes
July 3 - Fourth of July observed - USI closed, No classes
July 6 - Room assignment information available on the Housing Portal
July 20 - Move-In Timeslot Selection opens; sign up form to reserve move-in date and time available on the Housing Portal
August 8-9 - Early move-in for approved students. Early move-in is for students who need to move in early for a University-sponsored activity or program. Students will sign up online for a move-in time.
August 11 - Move-in for new students attending orientation on August 12. Students will sign up online for a move-in time.
August 12 - Move-in for TLC students, Greek Life, Honors students (Bowen), Pott College students (Craig), and new freshmen assigned to Durbin and Hanly apartments
August 13 - Move-in for freshmen in Newman, Governors, O'Bannon and Ruston
August 14-15 - Move-in for returning students
August 17 - First day of fall semester
September 7 - Labor Day - USI closed, No classes
September 15 - Fall Engaged Learning Day, No classes
October 5-6 - Fall Break - No classes; students do not have to leave housing during fall break
November 25-29 - Thanksgiving Break - USI closed, No classes; students do not have to leave housing during this break
December 4 - Last day to request to stay late or stay over Winter Break; approval required
December 11 - University housing closes to residents for Winter Break; residents must leave by 6 p.m. unless approved to stay late or stay over break
December 23-January 3 - Winter Break - USI closed including the HRL office, Community Center and C-Store
January 8 - Housing residents can return to campus on or after this date
January 11 - Spring semester begins
January 18 - Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, No classes
Mid-February - Deadline for returning residents to contract and create roommate groups to participate in returner room selection for 2027-2028
Late February - Room selection for returning residents for 2027-2028
