Volunteers needed: Help students and families carry belongings into their residence hall suites. This is a wonderful opportunity for the University and Evansville communities to make a strong first impression on our newest Screaming Eagles.
The day is organized into three-hour volunteer shifts. Volunteers will receive a Move-In T-shirt to ensure students and families can easily identify you as someone ready to assist. Volunteer teams will be stationed at each residence hall. Your primary role is to help students and families move items from their vehicles to their rooms while offering a warm welcome and demonstrating the caring spirit that makes USI special.

Welcome Week tents will be located all across the USI campus on the first two days of classes. Volunteers are needed to greet students, help them find their way and kick off the year with energy and support. You will help answer quick questions, point students toward resources and make their first days feel friendly and stress-free. Sodexo will be sponsoring refreshments, so the tents will have a fun, inviting atmosphere.

USI will be hosting The Wall That Heals, a three-quarter scale replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, along with a mobile education center at the Broadway Recreational Complex on Broadway Avenue. The exhibit honors more than 3 million Americans who served in the U.S. armed forces in the Vietnam War.

United Way of Southwestern Indiana Day of Caring:
The United Way Day of Caring is a community-wide volunteer initiative that connects corporate teams and individual volunteers with local nonprofit organizations to complete meaningful, hands-on service projects. These projects may include painting, landscaping, building repairs, and other improvements that help strengthen our community.
The 2026 Day of Caring will take place on Friday, September 11, beginning at 7 a.m. at the Old National Events Plaza. The morning will begin with a kickoff breakfast honoring the significance of the day, followed by volunteers departing for project sites throughout the community at approximately
8:30 a.m.
Volunteer registration begins July 13 – August 7. Volunteers who sign up within these dates will receive a free Day of Caring t shirt and entry to the kickoff breakfast!

51st Annual Frog Follies - Be a part of the largest independent Pre '49 Street Rod Show in the nation by volunteering to sell T-shirts and help in the concession stands.

USI Freshmen Field Day at New Harmony
Date: September 15, 2026
Volunteer Opportunity: Volunteers will provide information to students at a designated historic site. Written information on each historic site will be given to the volunteer upon arrival. Encourage freshmen to explore and ask questions.
Shift 1: 9:00 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.
Shift 2: 1:00 p.m. - 5:30 p.m.
Both shifts will receive a lunch voucher to use at a food truck located in Church Park.

Historic New Harmony needs help staffing the museum. They haven’t been able to keep regular hours due to limited staff. This would be a great alumni or student opportunity for those who studied art or history.

About Maximillian Bodmer Exhibition in New Harmony: The exhibit showcases works from Karl Bodmer, a Swiss artist who accompanied German explorer Alexander Philip Maximilian, Prince of Weid, in 1832-1834. They had an extended stay in New Harmony and then traveled the Missouri River to present-day Montana, documenting the American landscape and Indigenous peoples.
