Expectations of Student Trustee

A Student Trustee have the following expectations:

  • Participate in bi-monthly meetings of the Board of Trustees and special meetings as needed

  • Serve on at least one standing committee of the Board

  • Prepare for meetings by reviewing meeting documents in advance of meetings

  • Attendance at University events to represent the Board of Trustees as requested

  • Be advocates of the University mission to legislators, Commission for Higher Education members and staff, local and state elected officials, and others as appropriate

  • Educate themselves on issues which relate to USI and higher education generally and on major internal and external forces which define the destiny of the institution

  • Abide by the University's Code of Ethics and the Board of Trustees’ Code of Ethics

  • Fulfill a two-year term beginning on July 1 of year one and ending on June 30 of year two
